Yggdrasil Fall (2020)

I am so happy with this drum and bass track, because this is one of the most "me"-ish tracks I've ever produced! I've found that recently, I'm ready to show my true colours, because I felt I wasn't expressing myself accurately on Bandcamp nor on Twitter, so I decided to produce a cover art for this recent track I've made, and here it is! I've always had this very fast and adventurous, yet chilled, "live and let live" sort of attitude to life, and I feel Yggdrasil Fall depicted this attitude so accurately, both musically and visually! The cover art for this was fun to make and I'm so satisfied with how it turned out. Expressing myself is very tricky, so I'm quite happy I managed to produce this.

The title and cover for this track, are a reference to Norse mythology. Yggdrasil was described as this "world tree", whose branches and roots lead to nine different worlds. On the tree, you see Ratatoskr, a squirrel who is Yggdrasil's "messenger". He adds in scandalous gossip in messages sent between the great eagle on top of Yggdrasil, as well as Níðhöggr, the evil dragon which resides below Yggdrasil, in the hopes the two will clash and maybe cause Yggdrasil to fall (hence the track's title).

"Fall" is also another word for "autumn", as that's my favourite season. Yggdrasil Fall is not just an expression of myself, but also of the entropy that happens in nature. It reminds us life is ephemeral, and we need to make the most of it!
