Waterslide started out with me typing a melody into a new power electro music template on my DAW, and what quickly followed was a fun, upbeat melody similar to my favourite release Enjoy the Ride. I decided to call it "Waterslide" noting its bubbly theme and to keep with the theme of amusement parks!
I designed the cover art in an iPad app called Assembly! It stars eight characters:
π¦ = Ecstatica, DJ and raver reindeer! π = William, the athlete! (Formerly "Passion Cheetah") πΌ = Mei, the social panda! π» = Tom (A.K.A. "California Grizzly"), the skater daredevil (who can now surf!) π§ = Mersey, the swimmer! 𦑠= Γmber, the Basketballing doctor badger! π¦ = Rocky, the photographer raccoon! π = Brook, the skiing Alaskan Malamute!
The inspiration for this track comes from a memory when I went down Perth's biggest waterslide (called "The Kraken"). We were put on rafts of four and I was petrified but it was really fun though.
Similar to my track "Enjoy the Ride", Waterslide unites my favourite style of fast-paced electro that I'm calling "power electro", the electronic version of power metal. Featuring a surfer aesthetic with happy animal characters in its cover art I made for it, combined with its upbeat, carefree melody, Waterslide has a childlike feel to it that may remind listeners of waterparks or theme parks they may have fond memories at growing up. Along with Enjoy the Ride, I consider Waterslide among my best tracks, which is why it's second in my Enjoy the Ride album.
Other facts about Waterslide:
- It was created on November 14, 2021 and finished in mid-January 2022, during a surge of creativity where I completed 4 tracks in a short space of time with my new power electro template.
- It's my 153rd track and 69th release.
