Smashing Boxes was the 7th track I've ever made, beginning production all the way back on Halloween 2016, just over a year since I began learning how to produce music in GarageBand for the first time, making this one of my oldest tracks! Since it was made so long ago, I've forgotten about my design process for it, other than that it started off sounding like video game music, so I've decided to finish it that way.

Even though it wasn't produced with vintage hardware, I still consider it chiptune due to it's 8-bit sounds and its similar sound to other chiptune tracks that were made with it.

Other facts about Smashing Boxes:

  • The title comes from how in a lot of video game franchises, such as Super Mario and Crash Bandicoot, you gain points by smashing boxes.
  • The cover art is so far the only cover artwork NOT made in the Assembly app for iPad. It was made using Pixel Studio and is my first crack at pixel art.
  • The cover art features GLHF's best player and speedrunner - OpDaMyZr! He loves platforming games and comes up with utterly bizarre ways of finishing them quickly.
  • It's my 7th track and 75th release!
