New Year's Eve

Introducing my 39th release and 78th track: New Year's Eve!
7:45

New Year's Eve (2020)

Formerly released as "Year's End" before I changed its title a year later, it was the last track I made in 2018, on December 4 but finished close to NYE 2018, hence the title. My overall goal for this track was to create something celebratory and easygoing, like capturing the emotion of being with your best friends at a party celebrating the end of the year.

Like all my releases this December, the aim of New Year's Eve is to bring the holiday cheer to your home, since many people around the world are now in some sort of coronavirus-related lockdown and can't celebrate as they normally would.

I'm quite proud of this because, for all the "house music" tracks I've made, this has to be the best "house music" one. I'm proud of how I've mastered it and believe I captured the concept well.

Other facts about New Year's Eve:

  • The city pictured in my cover art is Perth, Western Australia. Its original cover art originally looked a lot more blander. In December 2021 I decided to update it with a more readable font and pop art aesthetic while changing the name on it, because its original title, "Year's End" sounded like "rear end".
  • New Year's Eve was originally 11:19 minutes long! I shortened it to 7:45 minutes because 3.5 minutes of it was dull and repetitive. This version sounds a lot better.
  • While New Year's Eve was made in late 2018, but set to release in late 2020, Paul Woolford, Diplo, and Kareem Lomax released "Looking for Me" in June 2020, with similar chords as New Year's Eve. I transposed the whole track one note lower than in the original version. This version sounds a lot better.
