The release of "Coronathletics" highlights my shift towards where I've always wanted to go in my music and cover art design - electro music for our bizarre era, where cute cartoon animals meet apocalyptic, warzone, and pandemic themes.

I consider Coronathletics to be my best track within the electro house / EDM / "big room" genres. I particularly think the sidechained bass from the start was a subtle but important move when making this. This type of music soundtracked my late childhood, and I'm so glad I can finally pull off my own take on the genre!

Fun facts about Coronathletics:

  • As are all my releases in 2021, this track has a quokka (a West Aussie marsupial) hidden in it! Can you see it?
  • I consider this is one of my best cover arts I've ever designed, along with the one I did for Enjoy the Ride.
  • It began creation as "Bare Maximum" on November 26, 2020, roughly the same timeframe Enjoy the Ride, Unlimited Data, California Grizzly, and Lazy Afternoon were created. November 2020 was productive!
  • Its cover art was originally just going to have the basketball player, later called Æmber.
  • Coronathletics once again continues my trend of merging incomplete tracks together. The melody starting at 2:30 was its own unfinished track, and the interlude between 4:00 - 5:00 was originally a track of its own called "Arctic" (not to be confused with a different track called Arctic, which I released on December 24, 2021).
  • It's my 142nd track and 55th release.
