2022 OVERVIEW is extratone - an extreme genre of electro music where tracks are at least 1,000 BPM. In the 202X Series, each tracks' BPMs reflect how crazy each half of a year in the 2020s is. Because of war, the rise of artificial intelligence, the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and inflation making everything expensive, 2022 OVERVIEW sits at 1,600 BPM.
The track starts out sounding like funeral music followed by the usual extratone antics of noise soundtracking our increasingly miserable, bland, polarised and divided society amongst every line. This track borrows a lot of elements from the previous five 202X tracks - for example, the piano melodies in the middle were reversed and had their octaves lowered from 2022 OVERTURN, the organ rise at the start is a modified version of the bass drop melody from 2020 OVERKILL, then the melody after that was altered from 2021 OVERRUN, which in turn was then used as the start of the string chords in my previous release The Singularity.
The track structure was also a mess, the whole song was messy and difficult to put together, samples were chopped up beyond recognition and there were blast beat regions everywhere and mastering was tough. I guess the unstable track structure actually helps convey the feelings of being lost in the ever-changing chaos of the 2020s.
2022 OVERVIEW's cover art follows the 202X aesthetic in other tracks in the series and depicts 2022's events overall. It is blue symbolising sadness, misery, technology, and overall blandness.
Other facts about 2022 OVERVIEW:
- 2022 OVERVIEW was the original title of 2022 OVERTURN, but I decided to use the name for this track since 2022 OVERTURN, being released in the middle of the year, wouldn't be considered an "overview" of the whole year. The text-to-speech voice used in 2022 OVERVIEW was meant to be used in 2022 OVERTURN as well.
- It's my 163rd track and 80th release, and the final one for 2022.
- I was banned from Twitter for a week while promoting this because I linked to a flight tracking video tracking Elon Musk's jet!
